all this talk on here about running landies on old chip oil got me thinking, well it had to happen some time, would it be possible to run central heating on old chip oil or is it too thick/thin? or would it just blow up in yer face and take half yer house away??

Dunno, but as I'm off to Bulgaria in a while & I'll prob' have that kind of fired heating, I'd be interested to know..............To which, what's the chances of being caught using fuel oil in your motor anyways? Are the plod really going to dip it to check the colour? Stories welcome.

The only way that you can safely run your Landy on fuel oil is if you are the only person who knows. The Excise will come round your house and dip your tank on the strength of one 'phone call.

nah! nah! nah! i was asking if it possible to run central heating on old chip oil as per diesel engines not if you can run a diesel on heating oil.
i don't think me petrol engine would take kindly to any oil being stuck down its carbatooter

I know, I know, I know, was tagging an extra question on me post. Sorry.

If as I've read, running a diesel on old chip oil does create a smell like the local chippy, isn't there a danger that running you heating system on the stuff is going to create the same thing? I'd be permanently hungry if every time I stuck my head out of the door I could smell frying chips!

Oh, & bejeesus Sheddy, they do it that easily? Hmmm, I'll give that a miss then, 'till I'm in Bulgaria at least, I'd bet they all do it out there.............Mind you, I can afford to buy their Diesel!
