Hi all, I noticed a fuel leak from a pipe last night so this morning had a look in the man cave for a temporary fix & found a bit of what I think was coolant pipe from my sons old mk1 focus RS, see pics. So I cut the bit I needed (as you can see it's reinforced, same dimensions) put it all back together & all is well.
My question are, do you think coolant hose is impervious to diesel? If not I've looked on the parts list & it looks like this elbow only comes with a 'sensor' am I correct? because at £128.74 for just the elbow is out of the question. So lastly if I buy a straight piece of pipe can it be formed into an elbow by pushing it over a piece of bent metal rod & heated with a hair dryer? Any tips much appreciated.

BTW the part no. of the bit I think it is, is WKW000081

You might find coolant hose crumbles in time. However you can buy 1/4" fuel hose in lengths, which you can cut to the correct length for your needs. It bends in quite tight radii without folding, so you should be ok. You just need to measure the internal diameter you need, but from memory it'll be 1/4" or 5/16".

would have thought that if you nipped down to you're local autocrats shop they would have a piece of pipe suitable for the job already bent.Or do as Nodge suggests, (just read his reply as I posted mine)

Thanks for your replies both of you. I did as you suggested, went to the local motor factor & got a length of fuel hose. I bent some alloy rod around a socket inserted in the tube & heated it with a hair dryer & left it to cool. I'll see what it's like tonight after work. The bore is 8mm.

BTW Nodge, what is that sensor further down the fuel line ?

5/16" then. Its odd, as I work in imperial for engine stuff, but metric for everything else.

If it's a disc shape sensor with a pipe in each side and an electrical connection? Then it's the low pressure fuel rail sensor. ;)
Hi, I took the bit of pipe with me & he measured it at 8mm I.D. Had to buy a whole 3' 3" of it though as he wouldn't cut a small pieceoff . It's a perfect match size wise for the old one it just means I've got a bit spare ! I'll take a pic. of that sensor tomorrow as the parts list is no help. Thanks again.

Here's a pic. of the sensor.

I see a picture of the hose, but not sensor. ;)

Is it only showing the pic of the hose in the vice? Above that pic (not sure how it happened) is the sensor in the T piece which goes up to my perished elbow( passing over the oily pipe).

Ah I see it. That's the fuel temperature sensor IIRC.

Ok thanks for that I was just curious, every days a school day:D.
Do you hope to get those injectors coded this weekend ? I hope to see you post lots of those green smiley faces sooner rather than later, getting it sorted.

Oh it is. I've been learning new stuff for over 50 years.

I'm going to code them tomorrow, although I suspect it's not going to solve the issue. :(

When I get this engine running, I'll be all smiles. ;)
