Hi Guys,
Started my freelander this afternoon to get the kids from school, and it sounded a bit rough under hard acceleration load. Got home, removed the plastic engine cover, and saw the end injector had soot all around it.. And obviously because the cover was now off, the noise was more plain to hear..
Took it to my local garage (very good rep & reasonable pices), and he said that my fuel injector seal had gone.. He said to drop it off there tomorrow morning and id have it back by 2pm.. And it would cost £70 all in.
He did say i was lucky it was the seal, and not the actual injector, as he reckons they go for £320 each
Anyhow, i said id drop the car off tomorrow.. But ive got home and looked on ebay, and you can get four of them for £1.99!! Am i looking at the right things here? They look like copper washers in the photos, and itll **** me off if im paying £70 for something thats really worth 50p..
If i am looking at the right things, is it possible to do the job myself? I imagine you have to have a special tool to remove the injector, which i dont have... But if you just need standard tools, i wouldnt mind giving it a crack myself..
Any suggestions friends??
