Hi people, i've just bought a p38 range rover petrol everything is fine apart from when i fill it up it is only showing half full and doesn't move any further. i've taken it to my local landrover specialist and he says it could be either the sender unit or the fuel gauge but dosen't want to replace any as he's not 100% sure which one it is and could cost me money for something i don't need. Anyone had this problem before? or know which one to replace? cheers and very gratfull for information, Rickie.

Disconnecting the sender wire and shorting it to earth should send the gauge up to full. If this works it looks like your gauge is ok. This is a common test for gauges I would have thought they would test this quite easily.
You might want to resubmit this in the RR section.
