Hi, I am new to LandyZone and hove a Range Rover L322 TDV8 3.6 Diesel 2008. I am having a problem with the fuel gauge which shows 1/4 full and runs out of fuel. I have had the car for 4 years and this happened for the first time a month ago. On this occasion I was able to fill up with 104.5 Litres so obviously had a completely empty tank. It happened again this week, with 1/4 plus showing on the gauge, but was only able to fill up with 80 litres, ie 20 litres in the tank when it ran out. Any thoughts? Is this the gauge or the sender unit in the tank?

Hello and welcome :)
Inside the tank is a transfer pump that moves fuel from one side to the other when that fails you get your problem.

Another brilliant innovation brought to you by LR :)

It's not just LR. I had an Escort RS2000 4x4 (MK6) some years back and that was one of the homologation cars as they had plans to go rallying with them. The fuel tank had a cut out for the propshaft through it and that had a lift pump to do the same thing. I ran that out of fuel two days after running my MK2 RS2000 out of fuel 100 yards up the road. The MK2 used to run out when the gauge hit the top of the red but it was just a bad earth on the gauge for that one.

Simpler times :)
