Hi everyone, new Freelander owner here so excuse my ignorance. My fuel gauge on my 2005 Freelander has just become stuck on full after a recent fill up and has show no sign of shifting. Could you advise what might be causing the problem and how I can fix this?

Welcome to landyzone fireplace for retired duffers, feel free to chuck a few oldies.
You say you filled to the brim and how many miles did you covered since the fill up. Maybe it was the shock of the needle not normally full made it stick.:p:D
Besides Landrover have a love hate relationship with accuracy of fuel reading.:(
Worth keeping a log of miles or if you are youngest km and gallons or litres filled. Work 25 miles per gallon+- as a guide. You could remove the fuse I think and refit to see if that correct the issue.

I expect that the float has got stuck in the fully up position. Did you fill it right up to the filler cap? Sometimes doing so can cause the float arm to over extend.

You could try hitting the top of the pump assembly, once you've done a couple of hundred miles. With luck, giving the pump assembly a jolt will dislodge the float arm.

Hi both, thanks for the advice and welcome.
I've done about 60ish miles since the fill up maybe it is just the shock of a full tank like you say!
I filled it until the pump clicked with an extra shot for luck... which might have been unlucky its seems. Showing my ignorance again but where about is the pump assembly so I can give it a whacking?

It's not unusual for the gauge to remain displaying full for 100 miles or so. It then slowly drops towards a ¼ tank, when it plummets faster. ;)
