Hello all, having an annoying issue with my fuel gauge on my 1989 Ninety. I filled the tank up and the gauge reads empty. Tested for continuity and the 12v feed, both seemed ok. Swapped the fuel gauge wires over to the oil temp gauge expecting it to shoot up to full and I get no reading on that either(temp gauge was working prior). Changed the sender unit, made no difference. How would I go about testing the earth? Just connect a wire from the sender/gauge to the chassis? Thanks for any help you can give me!

Put the 12v feed to the sender directly to earth and the gauge will fly up to full if it is working.the sender earths through the tankto the chassis.

Will that not blow the fuse? I'd try using a length of wire to get a decent earth from the sender unit to a decent bit of chassis.

The 12v feed is supposed to be the green wire on the sender right? I tested it again and it reads 0, however the white/grey wire reads 12v.

Check that the earths are on the back of the gauges. They’re all linked together on the back, I had some strange behaviour with my fuel gauge when these weren’t connected.
