what sort of fuel economy should i get from my rr it is a 2000 model dse i the computer said 23 mpg this must be wrong how can i get it up to around 30 mpg if poss
 
Depends what type of driving you do. Round town it sounds about right, if you want 30+ sit on a motorway at 56mph. I dont expect to get much more than 23 around town.
 
the wife gets between 20-23mpg doing the school run and on the highway i have got her going to 32mpg at 3,5rpm and sitting at 80ish, we have a 2001hse.
 
didn't think fuel and economy were part of the same sentance when talking about RR :hysterically_laughi

My chipped Dse returns around 23 in town and about 28 on a run on Bio diesel.

Sounds about right to me..70ish on a motorway for me, am not in a hurry at any time...
 
my 4ltr does 16.5 to work and back and last run i did got 25 to gallon at steady 62. i tell you im very gentle on the peddle tho. got it down to 8mpg few times giving it some welly tho. cor it shifts well and so does me wallet then.
 
nah its effluent gas, or farts as we know them!!

ive worked mine out to around 35 ish equiv to petrol but it all depends on prices and driving style.

i have looked at the hydrogen gas concept if i was using HHO as it is known and lpg then i would save around 30% on lpg and a further (upto) 50% of that on wich could equate to around 40% over equivelant petrol!!

incidently i havejust started the rangey straight from cold on gas and my little 'bodge' on the heater pipes seems to pay off as within a minute it has started to warm the vap, enough to ensure it wont freeze meaning i wont need petrol!! which is good news cos its now out of petrol!!
 
i reckon deezels are a bit of a false economy. they are not so quick as the gas versions, so if I had one I'd be booting it's nuts all day which would hit the consumption. plus deezel is now easily 10-15% more expensive than petrol.

on petrol i got 26.2mpg on a run at 55-60mph up the M11 the other day. around down in sweeney mode i get 12. consistent though.

then with the deezel you've got all that guff coming out the back which gives kids asthma, causes a nuclear winter for the poor sod behind you, and dirties people's washing, i'm sure it does.

The only ways to improve your fuel economy are:
1. Put a bit of black insulating over the display where the readout is :)
2. Freewheel down hills , worth at least 3mpg average
3. Chip it, worth at least 3mpg
 
Only had mine a week sittin on the A38 for 23 miles cruise set on 62 and then 10-20 mins round town getting between 28 - 30mpg

which aint flaming bad was expecting to be that good was expecting 20ish to be honest
it doesnt work out any more expensive if at all then my two mercedes sprinters
