Are you taking the figures from the OBC? Don't reset it and after awhile, it should provide you with a near accurate figure.

People often reset them before making a short trip around a town or city. Then they wonder why it's so low compared to the book figure's combined average for MPG.

How fast do you drive on motorways? I have a FL1 TD4 and if you drive much over 70 mph, it will drink an awful lot more fuel, probably due in part to poor aerodynamics. Not sure if it's the same in a FL2. I usually drive at 65 mph. (70 mph according to my speedometer, but it's out by 5 mph)

Imo if you drive an SUV style vehicle, you should not drive it like a saloon car if you want to get the best out of it, nor should you expect it to perform like one.

i have a customer with a freelandrover 2 and he gets 40 on a short trip and on a good run gets up to 55 mpg

My freelander (TD4) does on average of 33mpg, mixture of motorway and town.
Mums freelander (2.2) averages around 39mpg mostly town driving.

just done MPG check on 90 td5 from last fill up its like 25 around town not pussy footing 33 sitting on motorway doing 60-65mph

PS 55 in a FL WHAT THE!!!!! are you turning the engine off going down hills LOL

I've had an L-Series '98 for nearly 4 months now and kept very careful
fuel and mileage records - mostly country drving around Tasmania
and I'm getting around 35mpg or 12.5Kml - varies between 80kph
and 120kph - occasionally pulling a a small 4x6 trailer - at 70mph
that starts to suck fuel.
