I have a slight vibration on the car, so I jacked up the car and both front wheels/hubs can be moved (no movement rocked with hands placed on top & bottom of wheel, but left & right, there is noticeable movement). My first thoughts are wheel bearings, but before I go out and buy these, is there a any other reason this would happen, steering damper, track rod ends etc etc? that I need to check....

Thanks in advance

Chris

If there is no movement top to bottom it is not the wheel bearings look at draglink TREs and trackrod TREs.

Try Paddocks for the complete track rod assy. They did have them quite reasonal and of good quality. If not Island 4x 4 . I would recommend you change all 4 track rods too as the old one will be seized.

To check these out to see if worn, does the car need to be jacked up again or would I be able to see the movement by getting someone to move the sterring etc...?

Thanks

top and bottom is wheel bearing play, side to side is steering joints, and ball joints, also check the ball joints, cause they can have play at top and bottom
check wheel nuts

It's actually much easier to see or feel play if wheels are on floor and steering wheel is waggled from side to side by someone for you.

Had a look last night, with my hands on the joint I can feel a bit of movement at the steering box end of the drag link when someone was moving the steering. I could not feel any sort of movement on all of the other joints.... So will change this first......

Thanks for all the comments guys.....Will keep you posted
