Many threads on this, not saying it will be same fix as yours but the much publicised 'rattle on left turn over pothole and missing tarmac layer' knock / rattle that I had on mine (even after changing drop links) has finally been solved !

Tiny tiny impact between anti-roll bar and front strut on drivers side. Anti-roll bar off centre by about an inch.

Removed and replaced anti-roll bar bushes and centred bar - sorted !!!!

Hope others have similar success. I looked at this fault many times and couldn't replicate it by shaking and prising strut / roll bar. Noticed my other TD4 has anti-roll bar gap uneven and over to drivers side strut too !!! Only a matter if time. It's like the way that socks walk down in wellies :)

The bar will move again, if the plastic retaining collars have fallen off. If so, you need to stop it sliding sideways. Jubilee clips work well for that task. ;)
