Front prop-have i bought the wrong one?

Haynes sez it should be 643mm mines around 620 and i dont think its gonna fit.Am i shagged?

yep this is the amount of movement.(the bronze coloured bit.)

Just been out and measured the one on my classic 200tdi and its exactly 680mm while fitted.don't know what engines in yours but the prop you've got isn't a deisel one.

this is me old one, does yours look like this?Mines a 3.9 auto without cats.

Well the old ones ****ed but at the breakers he said thats not off a 3.9 v8.I know it aint from the haynes book but what hve i got now?Might refit the old one for the time eing only cheap ujs.Ill do a comparison of length
 
The one originally fitted looks a bit like a P38 one, the breakers one looks like a discovery or 200tdi one. I bet there's a difference in lenght from auto to manual transmission.
 
Just checked RAVE, non catalyst models have a tubular driveshaft, Catalyst a solid bar so you had a non cat model fitted. I reckon the difference in length must be auto/manual it would seem like too much of a coincidence that they would be exactly the same length drivetrain and the drive shaft is the only place that the difernce would show up.
 
Yes,my prop looks exactly like your old one and is 680mm from flange to flange when fitted.looking quickly at the paddocks site the deisel + the v8 non cat are the same.Is there any numbers on the prop you've been supplyed?
