Front lights/indicator configuration.

Can anyone enlighten me on the correct configuration of side lights and indicators.
Some 2s have them up n down, some side by side. Some 3s have them side by side but most up and down and some ones dont have either.
Is it a date thing or pot luck.

2 only had the sidelight. When indicators came in, sometime during the 2a they were side by side. Vertical was miltary. But I think the swapping of wings and modifying for indicators has mixed things up.
Never seen a 3 with anything other than vertical. And late 2as were vertical when the headlights went to the wings.

my '55 ex mod s1 is vertical, it was demobbed in '63 so the indicators my not have been added during its tour of duty

Looks like most where an afterthought as there is only one shaped hole for a single light in the front wing. I presume this was for a side light and you hand signaled.
