Front Half Shaft

Whhhaaat have I done wrong, fitted a new swivel ball and top and bottom bearings, oil seals etc. Shimmed the upper bearing out to get a nice resistance when moving the joint. Engaged half shaft in diff and stub axle in place when doing up the retaining bolts of the stub axle it pushes on the half shaft and stops it floating, what have I done wrong?

Guess the new ball was from a reliable source - seems the only dimensions that could have changed? No spacers or the like on the axle or stub axle flanges......

Or, did you have the cv joint off the half shaft for some reason and not seated it back on fully...?
