freewheeling hubs

im currently trying to get my fwh off, ihave removed the ring of bolts but it wont pull off, is there a retainer somewhere that i dont know about?
also i suspect that one or both of my fwh have failed so would it be possible to fit rear drive flanges on the front rather than fwh ?

There's something that holds the inner bit of the freewheel hub to the driveshaft but I can't remember what, it might be the original nut or circlip depending on age.
I got rid of mine years ago and fitted the flanges off an old rear axle - mine's an old S3 SWB so they are the same hub assembly. Later ones have more splines and i think there might have been a metric version along even later.

great thanks, rear drive flanges are 8 quid fwh are 100 quid easy choice really, as for the retainer how do i get to it please dont say its the little screws on the face of the hub as they look in a hell of a nick, surely the hub should draw the half shaft out with it?

there should be a circlip , you cant pull the shaft out like the back becasue you have a unijoint inside the big silver ball it all swivels on .

Yes, I remember now. Remove the ring of screws (or drill the heads out), take off the end plate and it'll expose the end of the driveshaft with its circlip or nut and spring clip depending on age. Remove circlip/nut, pull the inner bit of the freewheel hub off the shaft then remove the rest of the hub.

All good with the posts above but there are three different types off hub that I know off, e.g. Super Winch, AVM & Fairy there may be more, all have different types of fixing arrangement on them.
O I forgot the really chunky ones you need a spanner for to change over as-well , cant remember the make of those.

got the screws dug out and fwh changed for rear drive flanges, 4wd again haha
