hi all little help please.td4,finding it hard for car to reverse up steep slope without slipping clutch a bit.would hdc help some as there is no low range so move slowly backwards in freelander1s

HDC won't help. If it won't reverse up hill without excessive clutch slip, then the engine is down on power. There should be 280Nm of torque available at 1800 RPM, so reversing up hills shouldn't be a problem.

When you are reversing, are you going straight or are you turning? If you are turning, suspect your VCU is way to tight.
 
hi both of you for replies, first forgot to say while reversing up this slope of which is around 5mtrs long and about 1 in4 this is with an empty 150kilo trailer on,plus going straight at it is harder than attacking slop at an angle,car likes it
 
All HDC does is apply the brakes in a clever way to allow you to go down hill in a controlled fashion. It won't help you reverse up hills.
