freelander XEDi 2.0

Hi all I am looking at a 1999 2.0 XEDi and was just wondering who built the engine (is it a rover or supplied by someone else) the one I am looking at has 131000 mile on the clock and looks nice and clean and tidy,what should I look for and are there any problems I should look out for.

The engine is a rover L-series.
Check the vcu, search on here for 'tippex-test'.
Check the rear electric window moves up when you close the tail-gate.
Check the rear cubby box is not full of water, if it is the rear door seal is leaking.
Check the ird doesn't click when turning on full lock.
Check the coolant level before and after a test drive on the motorway, do 70mph
and check all gears are smooth.
Check the oil filler cap for white gunge, this will show head gasket problems.
Make sure the tyres are all the same and same sizes.
Check the rear tyres for even wear, if they are worn wavey then the vcu has seized.
