Hi There,
The rear left tyre on my freelander, wears on the outside with a feathered feel/look to it.
Is This tracking, or something else.
Thanks.

What is the tippex test ,or should I ask

There are 2 prop shafts, one at the front and one at the rear, the vcu is in the middle. The front one rotates at a different speed to the rear one.
The vcu accounts for this by slipping. Put a blob on the front shaft in line with a blob on the rear shaft. Go for a drive, the blobs should no longer be aligned if the vcu is slipping, ie ok. If the blobs are still in line then the vcu has siezed.

Check the suspension link bars on the rear are straight and undamaged. Are there any noises from that area? Jack it up and check for play/worn bushes at all the joints. Sounds like an alignment problem to me.

like Chaser says it is probably a wheel alinement problem,
the rears can be adjusted for toe in and toe out like the fronts
you need to find a garage that knows what they are doing and get all four wheel checked and aligned together .
Its worth checking all the bushes and the track rod ends for wear as well
or all the tracking will come to nowt:(
