Good afternoon,

This is my first post and I need help. I've just had my Freelander serviced, and the garage told me that I needed a "turbo filter". They didn't have one, and after being advised that they were easy to fit I decided to have a go myself. I can find them for sale (£6ish) but have no idea where in the engine bay the filter is.

Can someone please advise me where it is, and is it easy to change?

As you stand at the front of the car, its behind the back left of the engine. Look for the yellow oil filler cap then put your arm down behind there. It's held on by a small tube at the top and a clip at the bottom, there is no hose to attach at the bottom. Its slightly easier if you remove the air filter housing, but is possible with this in place.

If I remember rightly it should be replaced every 20,000 miles according to the Haynes manual. Main dealers never seem to do this on the service as you can't see it so how would you know. They very rarely seem to get dirty but as they are so cheap it's worth doing it anyway.

Thanks both, as he has done 62k and thne part is so cheap I think I'll change it anyway. It's got to be easier than the only other job i've done on him - electric window regulator (very bloody!).
