Hi, I am in spain and have a freelander 1 td4 auto 2001, and it has been in my ownership for 15 years.
Recently in the hot weather Ive had difficulty starting it on occasions.
It occurs not when the engine is hot but when the car is left in the hot sun .
Today after driving the car it was left not in shade for about 5hours.
When i tried to start it, the engine was cold and the starter was turning the engine ok, but the engine would not fire up.
After about an hour after sundown the car started without a problem.
Has anyone experienced this? has anyone any suggestions?
It appears to me that somewhere there is an electrical component that is failing when hot.
I look forward to your help.

This is a common problem with the Td4 many people buy a used fridge lorry and take the back off and uses this to keep the car in in hot weather, others use a car scanner and look for fault codes, or for things that are not correct like fuel low or high pressure problems?
