Freelander TD4 - Sparks from Pre-Heater - Any Ideas

I have just noticed that sparks are coming from the pre-heater on my 2004MY Freelander. Does anyone know why this might be happening? I am worried of course about filling up at the petrol station / setting fire to something.

Never noticed that before, could be just burning off some carbon from the combustion chamber or exhaust. Might stop once it's been really hot.
