Hi
We have just put our 2000 TD4 into a specialist garage as it had just started making a knocking noise on the o/s end of the engine just before christmas. The noise is a load knocking noise which after a few minutes of driving seems to quiten down. If the engine is reeved at just over 1200 revs the noise is gone. Thought it was the power steering pump as the noise appeared to get worse when the steering was moved but the noise is also worse when the car is put into D at tick over ( autobox ) so appears to be when the engine is under load. Has anyone any thoughts as would like to check them against the garage.

Cheers

Since this has been replaced, not only has the clatter gone, but the aforementioned low level knock.

now runs sweet as
