Hi Everyone,

First of all, I m french guy and not totally fluent in English. I will do my best to explain my question.

I have to change the silent blocs of the rear deck of my Freelander td4 2005 - 3 doors.
Here are the mechanical parts that I have to change: https://www.ebay.fr/i/162292857480?chn=ps&dispItem=1

Does anyone have a procedure/tutorial to replace it?

The garage told me they need an hydraulic press to fixed it.

Thanks for your reply!

I don't know what silent blocks are or what the rear deck is?
I'm not sure if the translation is quite right.

I'm assuming it's some kind of bush that needs replacing. A picture of the part would be helpful as the eBay link doesn't work.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your quick reply! This is exactly what I was looking for! It doesn't look so complicated, hope I will achieve it by myself.

It's not complicated, but does require a bit of patience to do. Support the diff from below and replace the mounts, one at a time. There's no press needed as the mounts are supplied as an assembly.

I'd also do the One Wheel Up Test to check the condition of the VCU. ;)

Yeh, don't faff around trying to replace the rubber bits - just replace the 3 bits complete, they're not expensive and if I remember right there is just 1 bolt holding each one to the car and 2 to the differential. As suggested, a jack under the diff and spanners or sockets to undo the bolts.

The bolts for the 2 on the back of the diff use a "captive nut" that is welded to the car (subframe) - so undo the bolt not the nut!

As Nodge says, worth checking the basics once you've done that...

Nodge68, GrumpyGel,

Thanks a lot for your advices. I have seen the 3 bits for less than 100€ / 89GBP, so for sure, I will replace all. There is only one garage in the city I live (285000 unhabitants) which accept to fixed it… and it ask 700€/620GBP...

Regarding the "basics", I have seen your link, I will do my best to translate and do it as well!

(not at the office tomorrow - no reply!)

Anyway, I very glad to find some good reply right here! Freelander is not so common in France and its quite complicated to find a Community!

700€ to change diff mounts!! Where are you? I'm moving there to open a garage.

It's an hours work, maybe 1.5 hours if you've never done it before. A LR main dealer here wouldn't charge anything like £620 to replace them, so your garage is overcharging by a huge amount.

Its a car dealership Land Rover / Jaguar, they work with white gloves... anyway, according to the videos, I will fix it by myself...
