Hello

I have replaced the tailgate window regulator but when i press the close button the window opens, so it seems to be working in reverse I have a 2000 and the unit came off a 51 is there an easy way of changing the polarity of the motor as the alarm bleeps when locking as it thinks the window is open

Any help would be greatly apprecaited

Thanks

Hi Optimus

Havent done yet as cant find the radio code so dont want to disconnect the battery

Thanks

Not all radios have the code set, on many if you switch it on and the radio comes straight on then no code, if it says "code" or landrover then there is a code set.

You can get the code from a dealer.

My radio comes on with "Land Rover" but it's not coded ? No problem for the radio when battery was disconnected ??

No problem. Cut the battery for 30 seconds then reconnect. The back window should then fully open. Instruct it to fully close and you should be fixed. Good luck.

Hi all

Have disconnected the battery and the radio still works, but the window is still working in reverse if the window is closed when i disconnect the battery nothing happens but if the window is open then the window closes,
if i use the key in the tailgate then the window opens and if i use the remote then it closes,is there a way to change swap the wires on the motor so it works the other way around

Cheers guys

If it worked correctly prior to being changed, I'd assume the regulator is the wrong one, though not checked the parts lists. Check on RAVE for the wiring diagrams, should be easy enough to find which 2 wires to cut and swap over, you've nothing to loose, it doesn't work properly anyway!

How strange. . . .it must be working arse bout face cos with batt power off for 10sec window should go down [open] on power up . . .the motor is uni directional so it will not hurt to swap motor connections. . . .blue/black= [+poss ] . . .blue/green= [-ve but not grounded] just swap them and see what happens as to why . . . . . . i aint got er clue :)

never looked at one so not sure of design, but could the cable be wound on the wrong way or a pulley/drum be fitted backwards?

this is more than possible if the unit is a repaired one rather than a replacement. It's a bit convoluted to say the least how the wire feeds on the spool and then around the mechanism, but really surprised that it works backwards.

I admitted defeat after 2 goes at repairing it, as it was cold and snowing, I had back ache, and had to get the back of it secure again so I could carry on working. got my local independent to fit me a second hand one, and it all seems okay.

top marks to Dakar 4x4 nr Swanley, Kent for fitting it in so quick and dealing with the problem. Rang them on the Thursday, took it in Monday morning, back by lunchtime.

better check the indicators aren't the wrong way round now, or the reverse lights don't come on in a forward gear. Nothin is ever ever EVER this simple on a freelander.

fair play you sorted it so simply.
