Afternoon all!
My 2005 TD4 HSE has clocked round to c. 55k and is due a service. I'm reticent to take it back to the main dealer who serviced it last year - post that service I took the vehicle back to them as performance & economy were suffering.
I pointed out that the auto box seemed a bit "challenged" in deciding between 4th and 5th gear around 40 to 50 mph, especially when cruising rather than accelerating/ deccelerating. I was underwhelmed by their ability to deal with this - a gearbox software update effected a temporary fix but the problem soon reappeared.
I don't know if this is common with main dealers. Previously I'd used a local garage to service the vehicle with hugely unsatisfactory results, hence reverting to a main dealer despite the huge costs.
Anyway, I would like to ask advice on what to do. I know there are Land Rover "specialists" - what experience have you folks had of these?
I think my car needs a bit of a thorough going over, its not running right and the auto box isn't coping well with the 4th/ 5th gear choice at all. The car is also not running right above 75/ 80 mph - it used to be very smooth.
I'm in the New Forest area so any recommendations/ suggestions around the Southampton/ Bournemouth areas greatly appreciated.
Regards
Tony
