Freelander Security System

I have now had my Freelander 9 months and love it to bits however it has come that time of the year when one has to renew their car insurance.
Does anyone know exactly what type of security system the freelanders have as is requested on most insurance quote forms when filling in.IE Thatcham cat 1 or 2, immobilisor etc !!!

I own a Y Reg 2001 TD4 ES

Any help would be so much appreciated.

Hi best to phone your nearest dealer as when people ask us we give them a letter to explain what catergory security system is fitted cant say of the top of my head as it depends on passive and active immobilisation and how many circuits are cut to prevent theft its a bit of a mind feild i know hope this helps,tiga

Its a CAT 2 system, the biggest give away to this is the alarm has no additional power supply which will keep it going if the battery is disconnected.

The vehicle sounds its horn as the alarm and not an additional siren as CAT 1 alarms do which are fiitted as standard to other vehicles.

Tiga is correct in that the category is also based on the alarms own in built protection system.
