Hi,

Just bought an 01 1.8 3 door freelander and I have 2 questions;

There is a rattling noise coming from underneath the car, especially when going downhill. I only noticed this when I had the window open driving past a wall. As soon as I put my foot down the noise goes. I had a look underneath and there seems to be nothing obvious. The exhaust moves around quite a bit (is this normal?) but without any noise. Any idea what it could be?

Also, the biting point of the clutch seems to be quite low and sometimes I have a problem selecting reverse, especially after driving for a while. Could this be the m/s gone and how easy is this to fix yourself?

Thanks so much !!

Get back to yer leaky tratter forum :D

Clutch, isnt there some adjustment of the clutch arm available?

Hmm, I'll have a look at the clutch...

The noise is like a loose exhaust or heat shield. Bit metal-like, no clonking or banging.

Thanks

I know a couple of the lads on another Freelander forum took the heat shield off with no ill effect. I think its one at the back of the engine bay..... not sure as I havent looked myself
