Due to pick up a '55' 1.8 Freelander on Friday. I guess this is one of the last 1.8's about, is it still prone to the dreaded head-gasket problem??
Anything else I should be wary of??
Thanks in advance

mib150 said:Well, the Freelander was picked up yesterday (Friday) the wife drove it home, then I went off to work.
Today went for a bit of a spin.....chucking it down, cab steams up...ahh turn air con on that'll soon clear it up I thought!! Erm....no!!
Got home lifted the bonnet, found the A/C compressor, switched on, looks as though the solenoid hasn't pulled in (outer part of pulley stationary)
Just nipped out tonight, thought....I'll just see what the different stages of lighting look like.......no side lights on passenger side..
Also can anybody tell me if the radio/heater/electric window controls should illuminate when the lights are turned on??
I feel a phone call to the $tealer coming on tomorrow!!
Cheers
