freelander KV6 cutting out

hi i am the proud owner of a KV6 2000 freelander 2.5 petrol, however to get to the point today on the way back from the north i was doing around 60mph towing my caravan when the power failed on the motorway so i pulled over onto hard sholder as you do and tried to restart, it is firing but not running, we called the necessary helpers and tried agian this time it started no problem went down the road 40mile or so and it happened agian not warning lights indicaters or anything just petered out to nothing waited around 20 mins and tried agian same again started little way down the road same again i am at my whits end i have asked landrover but they do not seem to want to listen or help so i am asking you guys who i know some of you are experts can you put some light on this problem it seems as it gets hot it stops then cools starts but it will fire and not run as if fuel is cut off. help me please??????:confused:
 
Fuel Pump is where i would start. It will be the lift pump in the tank that is on its way out, TD4 cars suffer very similair problems and its always the pump.

there is a known problem with KV6, Cranking sensor for the cold start, and Cam sesor for warm start. You might want to check the cam sensor.
 
I agree with Mondo here. I'm pretty sure if a cam or crank sensor pack up the mill warning light comes on. I don't think it refers to a mill as the Freelander can't mill wheat into flour :D

Sounds to me more like fuel pump/filters problems,Cam sensor would have brought on yer mil light i would have thought

it is possible mondo and always look for the cheapest solution :D
