Hello rods!
seem to remember Ming having a similar problem to this, when he was a young lad, have a look back at his previous post,Its a fair time age, so you might have to dig deep,
He will also tell you to change yer fuel filter if that wernt the cause of his problem

mondo

Yes i had this when i first got the motor, so lift up ya bonnet and get a helper ta switch on ing [sorry glow plugs on] but dont turn engine, put ya hand on the lift pump [this is under rh side under the lecky box thing, it should vibrate for about 12 seconds and then stop, if not then check fuse for pump ,pump relay, if that fails ,then release the pipe on the lift pump outlet [its a lock type clip] so no tools needed, get helper ta switch on glow plugs , should spew out clean fuel [no foam] if nothing put pipe back and dissconect input pipe, do the same again ,if no fuel problem with rear pump ,if fuel ,change ya filter, now clean up all the mess ya made earthling ,easy really, best oh luck. . . .:)

thanks for the help so far
but ming she is petrol not diesel
sorry for not telling earlier

not sure, but it looks like part of the air conn - condensor or summat. The wire looks pretty hefty too - a lot of current wud go thro it.

it also has purge tank on it??
its got 2 vacumm llines on it the top one is broke off...done before i got it ..but had a bit of ??brake pipe pushed in and black tape holding it in..so i just reattached it the same way but with red tape...i will find out soon if it works as have to use car soon....

yup - i was - but i thought the vacuum lines were thick power cables!!

Is the engine temperature ok, because my MGF went like that before the HG eventually went. The first few times nothing boiled over, the engine just ran rough before cutting out, but the temperature gauge was a lot higher than it should of been. The next time it boiled over and after the HG went pop.

I hope its not the dreaded HG.

Steve :)

well guys car sorted
red tape removed and fixed hose on properly and all is good
thanks for all your help:D
