freelander fuel pump

hi, my 2003 freelander td4 is not well. i have changed the fuel pump and filter located under the wheel arch as it had burnt out and got no response from the pump. the new pumnp sounds rough and is constantly running. is this normal or should the pump only be running when the injection system calls for fuel? any help? thanks in advance

Did you buy an aftermarket non landrover one.......these are known to be quite noisey and unreliable in comparison.
I think oem ones are either Ti automotive or Pierburg and should cost approx £100 - £135 ish.
