Don’t dispare guys, today I had a bonnet cable snap on me. I searched the web and was really worried that my new son in law was going to be upset. I read all the previous posts that I could find and none looked very promising. So, put some tyre levers, with cloth for protection, and lifted the bonnet away from the front panel. Then placed a large open ended spanner around the bonnet pin and hit it in the opposite direction to which the catch pulls. After several rapid hits with a rubber hammer the bonnet popped. Just awaiting the new cable.

New cable arrived today, removed the front grill etc that we loosened yesterday, pulled old cable into car with string attached, pulled new cable through and all is working. Even managed to refit the plastic cover. Not bad considering I’m on holiday in Romania. Rear door window cable is tomorrow’s challenge.

Oh the joys of a Lamdy.
Cable arrived at 4pm, the rain not long after, and I mean RAIN. I had to drive 10km to what was little more than a “shed” with a leaking roof and no lights. 6” plus of standing water on the road, good to be in a Landy. So, 3 hours later the cables were installed and testing began. All is ok but the window does not drop enough to open the door. I must fly back to Uk now so maybe have to fix on next holiday.
