I've always thought that Freelander Specialist had a good rep. Recently though they quoted a member what looked a really high price for some work. Looking at their page for a recon PTU - there look to be lots of clauses why you might lose your $300 surcharge - broken case sounds reasonable, not so sure damaged gears should be. Bell have always given good service, not sure I've heard anything negative about their service - even if many on here think their view on testing F1 VCUs are to "commercial".
So weigh them up and see, and as I say, check the conditions of surcharge (for your PTU).

Their service is good, and I'm sure their reconditioned parts are as good as anywhere else, probably better because they upgrade all the rear diffs to the larger pinion bearings.
However on another forum, Bell have told several members not to bother with changing the oil in the PTU as it fails before the oil stops lubricating.
How do Bell know the oil is still lubricating? Do they send a sample off for analysis? No they don't.
Personally I think this is very bad advice, and would never not change oil simply because the item the oil is supposed to be protecting might fail soon.
