Hej, finally picked up the freelander 2, a nice SD2, with 110,000 k on the clock. Love it. But here is the question, due to the sever winters we get up here -35c and a meter of snow I want to disable the power fold on the wing mirrors. I have a hawkeye for the now defunct disco 2, If I get the unlock key for the freelander 2 will I be able to disable the powerfold using the hawkeye.
I will eventually get the unlock code, just so many pennies are being spent on getting, wheels and snow tyres, tower, dog guard etc if I can hold out on the price of the unlock code for a while it will be a nice relief for my wallet.

Why not just pull the power fold wire? I don't think the Hawkeye has that kind of programming ability. I'm not even sure if the far more advanced IID would do it, but that is the most likely device to do such a CCF modification.

thanks Nodge68, that is an option, I know a dealer can disable it but my nearest dealer is over 700 kilometers away, Just wondered if the Hawkeye would have the capability on more modern vehicles.

From memory. The power fold uses a separate controller. So it could well be a case of simply unplugging the controller from the harness.

It's controlled by the front door modules and no separate feed to the module - but you could remove the pins for the mirror fold in the mirror connector as a temporary fix

okay thanks, think it is daft that they don't give the option to disable this within the vehicle, they must know that these vehicles are going to land up (excuse the poor pun) in some very cold places. Awaiting a reply from Gap to see if their diagnostics will disable it for me then I'll have a hawkeye going cheap.

okay contacted Gap and their IIDtool will disable it, just waiting a reply from Bearmach then depending on that is wether I upgrade the hawkeye or get the Gap.

Gap are always happy to help. They can even do a personal update for a specific problem, if they have developed the code already.
The IID BT is amazing by comparison to all other diagnostic tools out there.

does seem to do a lot as expected for an iid

There's always a 24 hr lag to get a reply. This is because they are in Quebec which is 5 hours behind the UK. They will always get back to you though and sometimes offer select user's beta testing updates.
