Hi,
Hoping that someone is able to assist with my 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 Controller board that is located in fuse box under the glove box as it needs reprogramming or replacing and reprogramming.
After returning to my car from work it would not start and just makes a ticking sound from the passenger side fuse box. It has in the past taken a few attempts to start on the odd occasions. Sometimes it would start but the radio sound and parking sensors would not work even though the stereo dials and screen worked they would not produce any sounds.
I called out my breakdown cover and the mechanic after doing lots of testing and plugging in his fault diagnostic tool identified that the board/programming is corrupted and not issuing any power beyond the board to allow the car to start.
The battery, alternator and fuses in all of the 3 fuse box holders where tested and found no issues the car was able to somewhat start the engine from bypassing the board when he was doing his fault finding.
He stated that sometimes unplug and plugin back in the cables to the board would fix the issue but this was not the case for me. After wiping the errors showing the control to be corrupted or faulty he tried again but each time the errors returned.
I have the car recovered and back on the drive way but now I am in desperate need for someone with the know how and tools to be able to carry out the reprogramming so I am hoping one of you are able to point me in the right direction or know someone that can complete the repair?
I reached out to 3 Land Rover authorised repair workshops and the cheapest one stated that it would be £205 for the hour to diagnose the fault without a fix or other associated cost. I can only imagine that they would find a bunch of items knowing the age and try to hit me with a big bill.
To make matters worse the area I live is being hit with a low emissions zone 2020 and I will need to sell the car to avoid paying £12 a day just to pull of my drive way.
