Freelander 2 - odd dripping sound above head

So this is a weird one... I fitted genuine roof rails to the freelander over the summer and a few times since the weather has been wet I have heard a very distinctive dripping sound above my driver seat head, can’t feel any wet, no condensation in the morning and nothing to lead me to believe I have a leak.

The noise is very similar to a tap when it hasn’t been turned fully off so an odd droplet of water hits the sink/sitting water!

When I fitted the roof bars I pumped waterproof silicone around the bolts supplied which fit straight into the roof so I can’t see it being a leak into the roof, and even if it were (which there is no evidence as no head lining dampness) why the very distinctive noise? Also aren’t the holes which house the roof bolts isolated, i.e. if there was no bolt fitted, water still couldn’t enter into the inside roof lining? If those holes are literally going straight into the roof lining then that design is not great!

It’s just odd, if anyone has any ideas please let me know!

Take it apart and reseal it

Is it water dripping through the sets of two small oles near the bonnet hinges, onto the plastic tray below? When yer next hear dripping switch oft the engine and listen from the outside.

The roof rack bolts do need sealed or water will wet the headlining.
