hi all. I have a 2013 Freelander 2. Both headlight bulbs are fine. However whilst one headlight works on both main beam and dipped the other only works on main beam and will not dip. Any advice on what is required to fix this problem will be much appreciated.

Bulbs would be my first guess. If swapping bulbs about gives the same results then look at the fuses.

Thanks for the suggestion. Bulbs and fuses are fine. It is the facelifted Freelander2 version with the LED running lights. There is only a single, one filament bulb that does both main beam and dipped lighting. Looking at the light unit that is working it seems as though a shroud drops down to change the lighting pattern from main beam to dipped. I am hoping a fix is available other than buying a new headlight unit.

If it uses a single bulb, then there is a mechanical shutter which moves into position when dip or main are selected. So is your light in the main beam pattern all the time?

Thanks kindly. In that case there seems little to lose in my playing around with the light unit. Worst case scenario is that I will still have to buy a new unit. Leaves me feeling that the headlight design leaves a lot to be desired. Never had this problem with twin filament bulbs / units . . Once again, very many thanks for your time and assistance.

Hi Steve, I needed to get the car through its MOT so had little time to mess around. I ended up buying a new unit from Landrover. Cost was about £450 for an exchange unit. I had hoped to retain the faulty unit and have a go at dismantling it, but was advised that there would be a £150 surcharge for keeping the broken headlight unit . . . . .

Have problem with mine my lights only come on when turned off manually don’t work on any other settings, any ideas
