Evidence of proper servicing, preferably before LR recommend intervals for drive line components, and the timing belt should have been just done.
Budget 3 hours labour + £100 for the belt kit if not.
When driving, listen out for noises, rear diffs howling is a common issue, which needs prompt attention, or they seize solid, which is scary.
Also be on the look out for thumping from the rear, when accelerating around a slow corner, or pulling out of junctions, which indicates an issue with the Haldex, and ticking or clicking from under the floor at the front, which might suggest the PTU is on the way out.
Check that all gears select correctly, and the clutch is mid point in the pedal movement. If auto, make sure all gears select smoothly, almost unnoticed.
Get underneath and look for corrosion on the subframes, both front and rear can suffer from this.
Check the rear wheel arches for corrosion where the rear door seal rubs the paint away, or stones chip the paint on the arch returns. Check the shocks for leaks, and that the rear shocks have there mass dampers fitted, these are a common fail point, and are sill expensive to replace.
Check the key dock works correctly, without errors, and make sure the engine starts quickly on all 4 cylinders, without any smoke, and make sure there are no errors on the LCD.
Inside make sure everything works as it should. You didn't say what model it is, but if you like toys, you'll want a minimum of SE spec.
Avoid overpaying for lower spec models, as they're not so attractive when it comes to sell on, and miss out on loads of kit.
Keep in mind that these are expensive vehicles to maintain by comparison to an FL1, and I would suggest keeping at least a grand in the bank, just in case something expensive goes wrong.
