Recently bought this model (2008) and it doesn’t have the terrain response, does this make all that much of a difference? And I’ve just read that this version isn’t 4x4 is that true ?

Think the 2wd version is the eD4. Yours just doesn't have terrain response with the electronic tweaks which adjusts torque, drive and traction control systems.

So respectfully there’s not alllll that much difference apart from in more skilled off-road situations being less heavy footed?

no problem, just watch for silly things like water ingress in boot switch, and oil dripping from the
top intake pipe and running down the engine and dripping from the bottom of the gearbox.no big problem.
just annoying.

The main difference is there's no HDC, and you can't lock it in permanent 4WD, by using the sand mode, it also doesn't tweak the throttle response in sand mode, but for normal driving it's fine.
Just curious is it still using the haldex? or sameish hardware bits.

Can you elaborate any on that? Sorry folks for going off subject but I have gone through 2 cam belts in 2 years because of oil contamination.
i found that oil mist from the breather leaked from the join in the pipe and ran down the back of the engine and dripped off of the gearbox not down the end
where the cambelt is.but i suppose yours may have a leak on the end joint and run down the side of the engine contaminating the belt.just a thought.
