Freelander 2 2.2 2007 TD4 Propshaft

Hi,

Quick question if somone could give me the answer as i can only seem to find info about Freelander 1.
Bit short for cash at the moment and Freelander 2 propshaft is failing. Can I remove this and safely drive about in car until i have the money to get a new propshaft.
It's only slightly noisy at the moment when on motorway but doing my head in so if I can do this it would help my sanity.

Yes. You will need to tell yer insurance as it's a modification when converted to front wheel drive only, using this method.
I assume the bearing has failed?

I think it will set off sensors, warning tones if trying to drive without it

Will pulling the haldex fuse be enough to stop that I wonder

Only plan on it being off for a couple of weeks at most and not meant as permanent mod so contacting the insurance?
If it then has effect on sensors/alarms i may be better just holding out and doing it when i have the part.
But will this defo happen or just what you expect to happen?
I think bearing and UJ are away. Can hear a slight clunk every now and then and it defo sounds like bearing failing when driving sound comes from directly under or just in front of driver seat.
As i said before seems to be loads of info on FL1 but not FL2 so your input is appreciated. But may not be as easy as just removing it seems.

The FL1 has been around longer. The bearings on it are more open to damage from the elements due to the location. They hold the vcu int place which is why there's more talk of them.

Converting to 2wd will invalidate insurance in the event of a claim and they find out. Most don't charge eggstra for it. They just want to know.

If the slight clunk happens when you go over a bump, check the drop links.

For insurance now I understand.
Think I'll just wait till I get part.
clunk is defo propshaft, recently did drop link, track rods and suspension, oh and clutch.
been never ending with this one.
