Hey all.
I have a 2005 Freelander 1.8 petrol (sorry)

Last week it cut out at a set of traffic lights and wouldn't restart. Had to end up getting recovered. After checking the fuel pump, it was dead. So we changed it and everything was ok.

Couple of days ago I parked at a supermarket and when I got back into the car it started but cut out almost immediately. After locking/unlocking the car several times it eventually started and I got home.

Yesterday I arrived home to pick up a set of keys. I left the car running and popped into the house for a couple of minutes and when I returned it had cut out. It wouldn't start. Again after lots of locking/unlocking etc it started and away I went.

Just now I have finished work and the car won't start :(

I have noticed that it sometimes bleeps when I get in... reading other posts the battery in the fob needs changed. (fob works everytime at the mo) But I assume that this wouldn't stop the car from starting up ?

When I turn the key (1) the clock/radio come on.... one more turn (2) and all the lights on dash come on. BUT I've noticed that it pops the central locking open as well. If I turn to (2) and the central locking doesn't 'pop' open then it starts ok. If the central locking does 'pop' open then it won't start.

So I've spent 20mins sitting in the car open and closing the door and locking/unlocking the car hoping that when I turn the key to (2) the central locking won't 'pop'

I couple of other threads have mentioned that it may be the starter motor wiring or ignition switch but I've no idea what to try next. Any ideas?
