Hi all.
New owner Freelander 1 td4 2004 automatic and have some issues.
1. Eml with exclamation mark appears 5 seconds when full throttle, cuts power (a little), dissapears after.
2. I have intake air sensor (but no wires) and on scanner, i receive error with faulty sensor (meaning that it's not connected) but as i said, i don't have wires to connect.
3. On scanner i have 2 errors. After i delete those errors, car it's working great (without eml with exclamation mark ), have good power and all ok but just for 5 miles. After this, same problems.
4. Car it's heavy on diesel with low mileage/l.
I attached pictures to see what i am talking about.

Any help it's needed.
Thanks in advance.

*Sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language!!
Cheers!

Hi,

For the temp sensor, open your eyes look next to yellow oil gauge, there is a connector just next to it. The engine works perfectly without it.

For fuel sensor, on your diag device you should have live data for the fuel presure first the low presure pump and the high presure pump. Check that first.

Can be the fuel filter, the low presure pump …

Sorry for my mistake. For the temp sensor, picture it's not mine, it's taken but looks just like mine, without wires/plug. I modified picture now. As i said, no wires/plug can be found.

Diag device it's not mine, i will go and scan again and check what you said and keep update.

Hi. Today i fitted new fuel filter (made a small service) and also scanned my car after with a basic scanner.
I have 2 picturres attached. One it's fuel rail pressure in normal throttle and 2nd it's in full throttle.
Hope it will tell you something.
Thanks.

Hi,

In your case a basic scanner is useless, you need live data from the low presure pump. Same for the HP pump. Also having the values at idle is better than a random rpm.

Also your basic reader say the mil is on for almost 32 000 km, certainly an error ?

Put the key on position 2, don’t start the car, switch off the radio, and anything that make a noise. Do you hear the low fuel pump when you are next to the wheel rear arch ? in the car ? how is the noise subtle , a buzzing sound …

I hear the pump. Noise it's not so "hard"like a buzzing. It's more subtle.
I will try and see if i can ask a friend with a good scanner to test my car again and see.
Thank you for your response. I will update

For how long do you have the car ? The MIL was certainly on for a long time. I don’t think the value is the wrong.

Do you have a picture of your engine sometimes it can help to spot some issues.

If you buy from a professional dealer you can go back.

If not you can’t do anything, the car has 20 years … certainly not well serviced at all.
Boost pipes can split a picture is beater,

Also normaly when you buy the car, the car should pass the MOT ( vehicle inspection ) before beeing sold. What do you have in it ?

Depending how many kms it already has, if still have the propshaft, if it’s free from rust you can fix it.

But you will certainly need to change the low presure pump, but need to be sure don’t put a cheap one don’t last more than 1 year. Good one cost.
