Hi. Am hoping it's not an expensive noise, or differental, which could write the car off. Any ideas, please? Ken. Thanks, guys (& gals)!

It's not a good idea to reveal your phone number on the internet. There are loads of nutters out there. I advise that you remove it quickly.

Thanks. Have viewed video. Will test if worse when reversing on full lock. Another post on this site suggested read sub-frame could be loose.Other posts, aimed at pre-2001 models talked of a recall re wrong nuts welded, etc.

First thing is to do the 1 Wheels Up Test. I suspect your juddering is a rear wheel scuffing due to a stiff VCU. Are all the tyres the same make, type and size and all pumped up to the same pressure? Mismatched tyres will shorten transmission life massively.

Its a well known fact by all the experts here that any strange noise requires immediate replacement of the VCU. Even the sound of your wife sobbing gently in the back seat.

Its also a well known fact that the VCU can cause those noises and if you disregard a quick simple test that doesn't cost anything to do - your Freelander can turn into a pile of scrap metal.
