Freelander 1 HSE front parking sensors.

I have a 2006 HSE with front parking sensors but they don't work (haven't owned it long). There's definitely no obvious switch anywhere on the dash and I can't see any aftermarket wiring in the engine bay.

Were front sensors ever a factory fit and if so how do I activate or test them?

No mention in the handbook or Haynes for them.

I'll have to chase the wiring from the sensors and see what's what.

There was an accessory kit to add front parking sensors on facelift vehicles.
