hi everyone my wife's 1800 Freelander has a slight problem, we went shopping in it this morning to give it a run and when I got out of the driving seat and shut the door I put my hand on the mirror for some unknown reason it was very warm now they are not supposed to come on when its warm outside so does anybody have an idea on what is happening.

even when its warm out side Nodge68 I thought they turned off.

No always on, while the ignition is on. In the early days of heated mirrors, there used to be a small thermostat in the mirror shell, which controlled when the mirrors would heat. However these thermostats proved unreliable, and so most manufacturers simply connect them to the ignition, or the heated rear window supply.

The FL1 mirrors are powered on the ignition supply, so heat all the time. ;)

thanks very much both it looks that way its another thing that takes out of the battery I wonder if I can put a switch on I will look and let you know .

No point really, as they use about 5 Watts per mirror which is nothing for the Freelander electrical system. ;)
