I know this has been covered loads of times as I have read the threads concerning all the relevant warnings I.e. Wrong oil, incorrect filling technique etc.
Due to this I want to ensure I do this job correctly, as my wife's freelander 1 2004 td4 auto has done 70 k and I am convinced it's never had the gearbox oil renewed.
I have just returned from the L/R main dealer in Maidstone, when it asked about the gearbox oil they stated the gearbox is designed to be life time sealed and they only supply the oil in 25 litre drums!!!!!
I know this is incorrect and I will just source elsewhere, what I am actually having issues with is finding the oil level and filler and level plug, presumes it's the same hole. I have read the Haynes manual and read various threads but either I am not reading them correctly or it was not very clear.
Can anyone explain exactly where it can be found I.e left or right of engine/gearbox, what's it near etc. if anyone has a pic it would be greatly appreciated as do not want to start pouring oil into the wrong hole.
