Hi chaps, I'm new here but couldn't suss out where to say 'hello' on this forum, so I just started a thread anyway. I live in Spain and recently acquired a Freelander 1 diesel '98 my most pressing problem is the alternator belt is about to break. I know that on the Freelander 1 TD4 2001-2004 it also drives the power steering and the water pump so a belt failure would leave you at the side of the raod awaitng a tow truck. I assume it's the same on mine?

Hello and welcome :)
Hi Davcud, thanks. It's good to know that my thread has been seen and replied to, as I'm not very computer-fiendly and I had my doubts as to whether I had written in the right box etc.
My query is still current, although after clipping off a flailing piece of the alternator belt it now makes much less noise and I think it will make it through 'til tomorrow when it get's replaced.
However, being the owner of a Freelander 1 '98 diesel with all the problems that they seem to have, I'm sure I'll be back with further queries. So thanks 'davcud' and landyzone.co.uk and speak soon no doubt.
