Hello All,

I have had the true misfortunate of changing the clutch on a 2001 1.8 petrol.
My big question is, do I actually need to change the seals on the drive shafts and the oil ring on the IRD unit?
They were not leaking before, so is it necessary?

Mark....

There's no need to change the drive shaft seals unless they are leaking. The IRD O ring is cheap and easy to change while the IRD is separated from the box. There's no guarantee that it needs changing but you'll kick yourself if you don't while it's out and it leaks on refitting.

Like he said but you are speaking in the past tense so are you having a problem since doing it?

Also if still working at it, don't skimp on the new clutch. Previous owner of my car fitted a cheap Eurocarparts (or ebay) clutch and it shuddered so badly I had to replace it again.
