Ho a few monthas ago my car came up with an error for the EGR. I was adviced to get the car remapped and cut out the EGR which I did.
It still ran like a bag of ----,and wouldnt go over 3000rpm. Since then I have replaced both the MAP sensor and teh MASS Airflo Sensor. The car ran grat for about 500 miles then started doing the same again and this time the fault was the air intake temp sensor which is on teh intercooler. Swapped that out and ran OK for a bit then the same issue. It's now 50/50 if it will run OK. Sometim can do 100+ miles in it and perfectly fine, othertimes I can do 800 yards and it start again.
No lights come on on teh dash and there are no code errors either! Sometimes turn the engine off and back on clears it, overtimes it doesnt.
I'm now at the point of dispair! Any help ideas welcome!

So if it sometimes clear after turning engine off & on again . . . then the sensors you have replaced are not the problem.

If there's no error codes, live data might help (both when it running ok, and when the issue happens)

I would probably look for clogs in the catalytic converter, DPF and intake manifold. Clogged catalytic converters gave me same symptons, but in a petrol BMW.

Rev the engine when stationary to see how much air flow comes out the exhaust. That will tell yer if its blocked. Well sort of.

First off what year, is it Auto i think it is if SD4 and what area are you from.

Second take it back to same mechanic and get him to put it back to factory map, surely there must be a warranty on the map.

Throwing different parts at the car is not going to help, because you will not know which part is helping or not, and it becomes expensive.

You need to get the FL2 someone whom knows about them.

More information required.
What year?
Does it fail to go over 3000 rpm in any gear, what about in neutral?
Does it have a DPF? If you only do short town runs it will clog up. To clean it will require a decent blast down a dual carriageway at high rpm. Stick it in Sports mode and keep it one below top gear.
Ever put the wrong fuel in it? Even a small amount of petrol will make the fuel filter gummy and prone to restricting flow (ask me how I know!). I note you have already changed the fuel filter, but could your fuel still be contaminated with petrol????
Definitely check, and check again, all fuel lines for kinks or crush damage. With no error codes it really looks as though it is 'simply' a matter of fuel starvation.
Blanking the EGR does not require remapping (at least mine didn't, and that was a 100k miles ago).
