Hi thanks for reading.

I have a Landrover 90 with Daihatsu 2.8 Turbo engine and need a more
powerful alternator 100/120 Amp.

Info I need is, is the oil pump on the back of my existing alternator purely
for lubrication of the alternator? If so is it just a matter of blocking the
pipes up and fitting a alternator with a vacuum pump as direct replacement?

TIA, Roy.

I've never come across an oil pump on the back of an alternator!

The oil feed is just to keep the vacuum pump lubricated. If you find an
alternator with a dry running vacuum pump (unlikely) then simply blocking
the oil feed pipe will do no harm, but more likely than not, any alternator
you find with a vacuum pump will need the oil supply.

Hi Simon, thanks for that, I'm sure I'll be able to source a more powerful
alternator now.

Cheers, Roy.
